Birth of Space 3 Womb

(UPDATED) I updated this picture. And... as you can tell, it's different from the previous one. O_o In fact, the other BOS pics will be getting a makeover as well. I really want my series to be like they belong together. Currently, while they share the same theme, the more recent works look visually separated from the earlier stuff. So I guess, I'm going back, revamping certain areas, expanding on some, and just making it look visually "together".

I wasn't too excited about the previous version of this. It felt... stiff. >_> The Birth of Space series is meant to be alive and organic. It's about the celebtration of creation, of life itself. My recent experimentation with digital/traditional fusion, however, allowed me to solve this problem. I love watercolors. And I think this medium, coupled with the use of the eletronic pen to render, proved to be powerful allies. The watercolors make the images more organic while the digital render gives the structure stability. So yeah, I love having the best of two worlds.

Anyway, I like the recent update of this. It feels more spiritual than the first version.

Weee! I finally finished it! If you want to know more background info on this, check out the WIP in my gallery. For the short brief: this is my Birth of Space series that focuses on the birth of space with relation to gender. Woman gives birth to life whereas men provide the seeds to life. Because my OC Seth is bigendered (able to morph from man to woman), this series contains Seth in each image.

With regards to the image, the creation of the universe is being symbolized by the infant in the sphere. I included some reds to refer to the menstrual blood women sacrifice to give life to that infant. Seth looks away because this is a very transcendental and precious moment. Sometimes, the most beautiful things in life can't be seen but rather, felt. So that's why she's turned away.
