Yaaay! I completed my first ever fairy piccie! Surprisingly, this didn't feel as laborious/time-consuming as the Parasite Eve pic I did just previously.
I've no idea what happened with Oona. O_o Originally, I was going to try to duplicate the look of Oona from the movie "Legend". But I guess Oona had other plans in mind. She wanted a more earthy look with huge retro hair, ala 80s style, and war-camo paint all over her face. So yeah, this is THE REVAMPED-KICK-ASS VERSION OF OONA.
I really liked doing a fairy. Initially, I was worried about doing one since I consider my art as dark art and I didn't want to fit into the cliche of a 'dark artist'. I tried hard bringing some intense colors and other elements to make Oona unique. I also got the chance to experiment with color more, which was definitely fun!
All righty, time to work on my next piece. It's convention season so hopefully I can squeeze in a few more pics soon.
Thanks so much for commenting here. And yeah, the ratio between comments and faves is funny. Although, I'm extremely happy this pic is getting a lot more attention now. I was very proud of it when I first posted it. I didn't know how people felt about it however since only a handful commented on it.
It's actually mixed media! I call it 'fusion art'; it's a combination of traditional and digital media fused together. I grew up as a traditional artist, you see. Then I got into digital medium during my years in college. I enjoyed working with both and hated having to choose between one or the other. Thus, during my senior thesis project I began a series called 'Birth in Space'. There, I started to explore the fusion of both worlds. I guess, for me, I felt there was such a division between traditional artists and digital artists that I wanted to create a bridge between both worlds and declare to the world that it doesn't matter what the piece is made out of. Rather, what's important is the concept and the emotional/personal impact it has between artist and audience.
It's actually mixed media!
